Industries with high regulatory constraints, such as the aviation one, are required to collect, manage and record data; such obligation calls for multitask and multifield IT systems implementation.
Tracking skills and qualifications for the MRO activities is no exception: every production staff has to be qualified. Our Group has recently implemented a system enabling to gather transversally every useful information related to MRO personnel, and to collect it in a single data base. This system guarantees an efficiency enhancement for staff management, flexibility and productivity.
In other domain, Air France Consulting widens its product range to cover the business aviation; a very specific activity that remains concerned by the same obligations that those of regular operators.
We are more than ever your partners to imagine solutions, share your ambitions and set up the optimal actions.

TRACKING MRO STAFF SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
How to track and manage the skills and competences of your MRO staff in order to comply with regulatory and industry standards constraints?
Within the regular framework of aeronautical certification such as EASA or industry standards such as ISO, all MRO operators (airlines and/or independent) must ensure a proper tracking and history of the competences and skills as required to perform their maintenance duties.
Such requirements can be met by setting up ad hoc Information Systems which can prove that any person qualified to perform maintenance duties can do so based upon his proven records of qualification and competences. Beyond, it could be useful to record as well the work experience, the possible exposure to CMR dangerous goods (Carcinogenic Mutagenic Reproductive), the maintenance tasks performed as a Certifying Staff, the assignment abroad, etc…
These kind of information are usually scattered among different data bases (engineering, maintenance, HR, Quality Assurance, medical). The implementation of a centralized IT system and the collection and record on a single data base can help to answer through a simple request the demand of the certifying agencies, or from your customer, and to prove your staff are perfectly entitled to do their job.
Such project is currently under implementation at Air France Industries. For AFI, « this is at the forefront of the recertification process of the maintenance activities under the Single & Global Certification Audit (EASA monitoring, EN 9100 for Design, EN 9110 for Production, EN 9120 for Distribution, ISO 9001 for Quality, ISO 14001 for Environment, ISO 15489 for Documentation, ISO 22000 for Health and Safety, OHSAS - Occupational Health Safety Assesment Series - 18001 for health and work safety). It will lead to a better internal vision, an optimized sharing of the data and an easier follow up process of the required competences ».
Beyond, this project will contribute to reinforce the cooperation between the operational level and the support functions such as Quality Assurance, QSE, Information Systems, Human Resources or Training.
Within a more and more regulated framework, the selection of the right maintenance personnel is very important given the consequences of non quality costs in the MRO field.
Air France Consulting and Air France Industries experts propose you to share this experience with other MROs and the Air France-KLM group.
AFC & MASTERJET OFFER FOR BUSINESS AVIATION
The business aviation sector is still growing, thanks to its ability to meet specific client requirements in terms of flexibility, responsiveness and choice of destinations.
In spite of its own specifics, the business aviation sector is subject to some of the regulatory constraints that commercial air operators have to comply with. The extent of burdens varies depending on the regulatory environment, the extent of operations.
The latest example concerns the European Trading Scheme (ETS) which will apply to the largest business aviation operators. Moreover, recent regulatory changes impact the whole air transportation market (IOSA, SMS, SeMs).
Beyond, more and more principals such as the Oil and Gas industry or the large corporates are calling on operational safety assesment in order to demonstrate their staff are flying in the safest and most secure conditions.
In order to consolidate this approach, we decided to partner with one of the most dynamic companies in the European business aviation market, Masterjet, whose main activities are aircraft trading, fleet management and transportation on demand.
The combination of AFC’s and Masterjet’s know-hows enable us to offer to private and commercial operators a large scope of activities in different areas such as:
- financial (financing, aircraft trading, ETS),
- commercial (business plans, marketing, purchasing),
- operational (training and recruitment, air and ground operations, IOSA, SMS, technical documentation)
- technical (engineering, aircraft specifications and optional equipments, upgrade, maintenance) and
- managerial (risk management, human factors, security).

Further to a 40 year experience in the aircraft industry, and more particularly engineering and maintenance, Gérard Wagener has accumulated a huge experience by phasing in new aircraft in the fleet, or by implementing aircraft and cabin modification.
More recently, he has been instrumental in the setting up and the implementation of the Safety Management System (SMS) in the maintenance wide activities.
He is now sharing this experience and is at your disposal to help you with the implementation of the SMS in your organization.
