Setting up an IOSA organisation in an African business aviation airline

Following an audit carried out with reference to IOSA, this Central African business aviation airline, operating international and domestic flights, with less than ten airplanes, decided to launch an ambitious project to structure itself so as to obtain the IOSA label.

A team of 3 experts from AFC (including 2 IOSA auditors) with help from the technical group from Quali-audit, our accredited IOSA subsidiary, worked with this airline over 9 months to set up a new IOSA organisation in the following 8 areas: ORG, FLT, DISP, CAB, GRD, CGO, SAF, MNT.

Following this operation, complete documentation was supplied and all of the requirements across all areas will have been piloted in common by each management so as to optimise resources and unify the whole management around the project.

Training course in “Management and commercial organisation of an airline» for managers of a large Chinese airline

Air France Consulting organised a training course on the theme of « Management and commercial organisation of an airline» for groups of 15 young managers with great potential from a large Chinese airline.
Sessions lasting 6 weeks were organised with courses, practical exercises, exchanges and visits to the 4 commercial cornerstones of an airline (Sales, Marketing, Maximising Revenue, Network Management)

The objective was to initiate the trainees in the basics, and also to allow them to take advantage of feedback and best practices in areas such as, for example, the optimisation of a long-haul programme, organisation of a hub, running a customer loyalty programme.

Revenue Management Pricing for a European Tour Operator

Air France Consulting was asked by a vacation club, which is active in all the major tourist resorts around the world, to evaluate its revenue management system and assess the possibility of extending it from one geographical area to the whole world.

The first stage allowed the advantages and drawbacks of a centralised revenue management system to be shown objectively, in the context of very open commercialisation (arrival dates in the villages, à al carte stay durations, independent pricing) and for a complex product that associated a chain of multiple and heterogeneous suppliers (e.g. charters, risk flights, villages, types of room).

Extending revenue management to all of the villages was launched, à la carte reservations (except with a high premium) were ended, pricing was integrated into revenue management and introducing class reservations is under study. Managerial practices are being transformed.

Training of Cabin Crew Supervisors for an Asian airline

Air France Consulting delivered a training course, associating theory with practical exercises, to chief flight attendants to enable them as supervisors to evaluate the in-flight performance of the airline’s cabin crews.

The course, whose main theme was human factors, covered subjects such as the role of the supervisor, management styles, evaluation methods and feedback.

Feasibility Study to Improve an International Airport in Africa

The project involved participation in the feasibility study, including handling the cargo development study, market study, industrial and real estate programming, pre-project, creating the tender documents for companies.

Project to extend an international airport in the Middle East

Participation in a project to extend an international airport in the Middle East, so as to make it attractive for airlines by offering them infrastructures and services that allow them to develop their traffic.

A cargo development study was carried out and predicted traffic development established, as well as recommendations on the strategy to be developed in terms of development of airport passenger and cargo facilities.

Management of collective intelligence for cabin crew for a European airline

How to manage an itinerant population with new technological tools while taking into account the cultural environment?
Study of management practices, communication and interactive team leading applied to itinerant employees or those far from the airline’s home base, in various sectors of activity.

Organisation of crew training

A large European airline asked Air France Consulting to act as consultant for the reorganisation of its crew training system.

After diagnosis and mapping of the training process, three organisation scenarios were proposed.

The new organisation is currently being put in place with the description of work profiles and interfaces.

Assisting installation of an E-ticket Process in a Central Asian airline

Making its expertise and experience available to its client, and as an  ET Buddy approved by IATA,  AFC worked on the spot and online on the airport passage aspects (DCS), passenger handling, information and communication to passengers, payment security, as well as project management and organisation aspects.

Organisation of Maintenance for a Middle Eastern airline

Contribution to a scientific research on crew fatigue for the French Civil Aviation Authority

Air France Consulting participates, in cooperation with ONERA and LAA within a french consortium, on a study of the cabin and flight crew workload influence on flight safety.

 

First months of the study enabled to perform a qualitative and quantitative analysis of Air Safety Reports (ASRs) of three regional airlines (Airlinair, Britair, Régional).

 

This study aims at providing recommendations on risks associated to fatigue in a safety management system basis (SMS-RF), to be applied to reduced rests and split duties.

Airline Management training

This 5 day seminar introduces the airline fundamentals: Program Management, Revenue Management, Marketing and Sales approach, as well as economic levers and cost control.

This course brings to participants a general vision of the key areas for an airline, and thus enables them to gain knowledge about what is at stake at all levels of activity. Recently addressed to airline managers from Mediterranean region, such seminar aroused the enthusiasm of all participants.

Seminar on Human Factors in Mantenance for a military aircraft work station

Air France having developed a consistent Human Factors policy, this French army work station wanted to benefit from this experience in order to gain time, avoid hurdles and build a durable approach.

Feedback share between instructor and participants, all of them coming from aircraft maintenance, was particularly rich and enabled each one of the participants to adopt the principles of such a policy and to transfer them in their daily routine tasks. 
 

Technical Assistance on security for two African Civil Aviation Authorities

Within the framework of the « EUROMED Aviation » program, the European Union and the 12 Mediterranean partner countries set up a technical assistance plan, approved by the National Coordinators and the European Commission.

This program reviews the means of cooperation that aim to support the development of the future « EURO - Mediterranean free trade zone ».

Air France Consulting provided a technical assistance in terms of security, aiming for an improvement in the functioning and efficiency of the Mediterranean transport system.

Marketing of IT solutions for the air transport industry

We carried out, for a European company, a benchmark of business applications available in the market. This study also included an analysis of rket trends and requirements, potential revenue for this product, as well as opportunities for the company.

 

This study was made in cooperation with experts in different operational fields; the deliverable was a marketing positioning, recommendations on strategies and capacities required as well as a business plan.

Assistance for aircraft acquistion / evaluation

Air France Consulting was mandated, on request of a subsidiary of a large Russian banking institution that runs an aircraft leasing activity, to search on the market a number of aircraft corresponding to the client specifications (type, age, engines), then to proceed to a financial evaluation in respect to same type of aircraft (residual value, lifetime and cycles, maintenance events, cabin configuration), and after selection, to make the technical assessment (aircraft documentation) at the seller’s in order to compare the purchase price to our estimations.

 

This contract enabled us to apply our expertise in the field of fleet management, more specifically in terms of finance by advising the client on the final purchase price, as well as in technical issues by making an exhaustive documentation assessment of the aircrafts in cooperation with the owners.
